Learning outcomes
➢ LO 103 Recognises letters and their sounds A - Z.
➢ LO 112 Talks about self /situations/ pictures in English.
➢ LO 101 Associates words with pictures.
➢ LO 308 Uses meaningful short sentences in English, orally and in writing.
Motivation
The students are motivated through a simple activity in which each student is asked to tell a word beginning with the initial letter of their names.
Introduction
The teacher introduces the teaching unit and prepares them to learn the content for the week one by one.
Content for the Week
❖ Alphabet introduction Aa-Mm
❖ Handwriting Practice (Strokes)
❖ Self – Introduction
❖ Learning the names of classroom objects
❖ Using simple sentences in their conversation
Teaching Learning Activities
The students are made to utter the letters and their sounds from Aa-Mm. (using theYoutube link https://youtu.be/XF1MqUGdO-I )
The students are asked to sit in a circle and the teacher joins them. The teacher asks“What is your name?” to the student next to him/her. The student is enabled to say his name,age and the class in which he/she is studying.

▪ I am in class _____
The students are asked to form a train in which the teacher is the engine. The classroom things are labelled and the train visits the objects one by one. At a particular object, the train stops and the teacher asks others what the object is. The students respond saying the object’s name aloud.
Eg. Table, chair, blackboard, window, door, dust bin etc.
The students are taken to different places of the school such as office room, library,noon meal kitchen, parking area, play ground, etc., and on return to classroom, they are engaged in a conversation with simple sentences.

The students are given handwriting practice focusing on the shape and stroke of the letters from a – m.
Reinforcement
The students are engaged in different word games and rhymes which they do actively recalling all the topics learnt.
Evaluation
Underline the letter f in the word coffee. (LoT)
Say a word with c as beginning letter. (LoT)
What do you like the most in our school? (MoT)
How old are you? (MoT)
Remedial Teaching
The students who hesitate to engage in activities and those who fail to answer are encouraged by the teacher to express themselves in learning through simplified instructions.
Follow – up
The students are directed to write five two-letter words beginning with the letter a and i.
